Explore five building concepts

Hospital: Coordinate the main entrance, patient-facing glass and interior privacy without assuming every opening needs the same film. Areas: Main entrance & sidelites (Review the entry doors, adjacent glass, frame and possible attachment as one assembly.); Reachable lobby glass (Extend the review to accessible ground-floor glass beside the entrance.); Patient-room windows (Consider heat and glare with matching film-on-glass data and daylight preferences.); Consultation & bathroom glass (Review sightlines and fixed frosted or switchable privacy needs.); Interior partitions (Coordinate decorative bands on meeting and circulation glass.); First-floor review glazing (Determine whether any visible first-floor opening qualifies for a named tested assembly.).

School: Start at the vestibule, then assess accessible glazing, classroom daylight and administrative privacy. Areas: Vestibule doors & sidelites (Review glass, framing and specified attachment at the main entry.); Adjacent accessible glazing (Consider reachable first-floor windows as the next survey phase.); Classroom windows (Discuss glare and daylight on identified classroom elevations.); Administration & restroom glass (Check sightlines before choosing frosted or switchable privacy.); Commons partitions (Use decorative film for wayfinding or visual separation on interior glass.); First-floor review glazing (Assess eligible openings only against a named tested ballistic assembly.).

Church: Plan entrance glazing, sanctuary daylight, counseling privacy and fellowship-space glass together. Areas: Entrance doors & sidelites (Begin at the main public entrance and its surrounding glass and frame.); Accessible side glazing (Extend the review to reachable glass near the main entry.); Sanctuary & fellowship windows (Compare solar options while considering daylight, views and existing glass.); Counseling & restroom glass (Review sightlines for frosted or switchable privacy.); Fellowship interior glass (Consider decorative bands or patterns for interior separation.); First-floor review glazing (Check whether a first-floor opening can support a documented tested assembly.).

Commercial office: Connect lobby priorities to facade solar control, confidential meeting rooms and interior graphics. Areas: Lobby doors & sidelites (Review the principal entrance as a glass, film, frame and attachment scope.); Reachable storefront glass (Add accessible ground-floor perimeter glazing beside the lobby.); Sun-facing facade (Compare daylight and heat-control needs by elevation using compatible film data.); Meeting & restroom glazing (Control sightlines with fixed frosted or switchable privacy options.); Interior graphics (Plan decorative bands or branding for visible meeting-room partitions.); First-floor review glazing (Consider eligible first-floor openings against a specific tested configuration.).

Home / Residential: Start with glazed entry doors and sidelites, consider solar control for exterior windows and add frosted privacy to bathroom glass. Other reachable openings can be reviewed individually. Areas: Glazed entry doors & sidelites (Review entrance glass, framing and possible attachment together for a suitable security-film scope.); Living-room exterior windows (Consider solar control against the existing glass and desired daylight and views.); Bathroom window (Review fixed frosted or decorative privacy against actual sightlines.); Remaining exterior windows (Extend the solar review to other exposures, with matching film-on-glass data.); Other upper-floor exterior windows (Review solar control on the remaining upper-floor windows, subject to glass compatibility and desired views.); Accessible side windows · optional security (Consider a separate security-film and frame review for these reachable openings if they are a priority.); Eligible opening · consultation only (Discuss only a named tested assembly and stated threat specification for an eligible opening.).

Start with the openings that matter

Entry protection focuses on doors and sidelites. For facilities, accessible perimeter adds reachable adjacent ground-floor glass; a whole-building plan also considers solar, privacy and decorative needs. For homes, compare entrance security, exterior-window solar control and bathroom privacy, then add optional openings individually. These concepts do not classify upper-floor windows as threats.

From concept to specification

The building illustrations use colored glass as a category map, not as installed-film appearance. None depicts a completed Shore project. The separate glass appearance preview is illustrative. A site visit establishes glass type, framing, attachment requirements, product compatibility and any matching test documentation before a film is specified.

A separate ballistic review

A ballistic retrofit is only considered for eligible openings against a named, tested assembly and stated threat specification. Ordinary security film is not bulletproof; film thickness alone does not establish a rating. The concept map is not a security assessment or engineered design.

Common questions

Are the colored panes the actual appearance of window film? No. Every building image uses colors to identify opportunities, including the home. The glass appearance preview is separate and illustrative; samples and exact glass-film specifications determine the installed look.

Can every existing window receive security or ballistic film? No. A survey must check the glass, framing, attachment and installation conditions. Ballistic claims require a matching tested assembly and threat specification for the proposed opening.

Does this plan send a request to Shore automatically? No. You can print or copy the concept brief and paste it into the project details of the existing inquiry form. Shore reviews the scope after you submit that form.
