A clear upgrade for vulnerable glass. Explore 3M film, frame attachment and qualifying system options for entrances, classrooms, storefronts and homes. Shore scopes the right assembly opening by opening.
Thickness describes material, not forced-entry time. A useful comparison includes the glass, frame and attachment — and whether a matching test report exists.
3M Ultra S800: Co-extruded micro-layer PET; 8 mil nominal. Fragment retention and a specified forced-entry delay objective. 3M IPA required for break-entry, windstorm, explosion and spontaneous single-pane tempered breakage applications. Published results belong to tested glass, film and attachment configurations.
3M Safety S140 (S14): Three-ply polyester; 14 mil nominal. Clear safety film with security applications when properly specified. 3M IPA required for all break-and-entry applications and, separately, spontaneous breakage on single-pane tempered glass. Film alone does not qualify an opening for forced-entry delay.
3M Scotchshield S2400: Polyurethane / TPU; 24 mil nominal film (25 mil including adhesive). Optically clear retention in a specified security assembly. Follow current 3M IPA requirements for the exact application; 3M's product page specifies IPA for all applications. Do not combine PET film with S2400 on the same pane; follow current 3M specifications.
C-Bond BRS: C-Bond treatment + proprietary multilayer film on qualifying glass; Configuration-specific multilayer system. Ballistic-resistant system review for a qualifying assembly. Exact glass, treatment, film layers and installation must match the qualifying report. Separate manufacturer; not a 3M film or a universal retrofit rating.
Sussex Academy: Phased work across multiple campus buildings, with 8 and 14 mil security film among other film scopes.
Seaford School District: Documented school security film and attachment scope; see the project record for the actual installation.
Milford Middle School: C-Bond ballistic-resistant system project documented as underway. No field-performance result is claimed.
Seaford School District: Security film and perimeter attachment work, with approved installation photos and a case-study document.
Duck Creek Regional Library: Decorative glass graphics and exterior clerestory film; distinct products for distinct openings.
There is no universal number. Delay depends on the existing glass, film, frame, attachment and tools used. Ask for the test report for a matching assembly; no film alone guarantees a response time.
No. Ordinary 3M security films are not bullet-resistant and do not stop intruders. C-Bond BRS is a separate ballistic-resistant system, qualified only for the exact tested glass, treatment, film and installation configuration.
Clear and tinted options exist. Published visible-light transmission depends on the film and reference glass; we review appearance alongside the security objective.
Film can hold broken fragments together while an unanchored pane may still leave the opening. 3M requires Impact Protection Attachment for specified break-entry and other applications; frame suitability is checked on site.
Glass type and size, number of openings, frame condition, required attachment, access, film and documentation all affect scope and price. We quote the actual building, not a universal price per window.
Often, subject to glass and frame compatibility. Entry doors and sidelites are reviewed individually; a site survey identifies where an attachment and a tested configuration are appropriate.
Request the report for the exact qualifying glass, C-Bond treatment, proprietary film layers and installation. A rating from one tested build does not transfer to ordinary filmed glass or another building automatically.
