The homeowner's ask was straightforward — filter the light coming into the living space, cut some of the solar heat arriving through the glass, and add UV protection for interior finishes and furnishings. The tradeoff is straightforward: a darker shade filters more daylight, so treated rooms take in less light and the outward view is retained at reduced brightness. Low interior reflectivity helps reduce interior reflections in the evening rather than eliminating them, and "Night Vision" is a product name rather than a nighttime privacy feature — blinds or shades remain the answer after dark.

No. “Night Vision” is a 3M product name rather than a nighttime privacy feature. Dual-reflective film gives its daytime privacy effect when the outside is brighter than the inside. Once interior lights are on after dark that reverses, and blinds or shades are still needed.
It depends on the specific glass. Film selection on insulated or Low-E units is an assessment we make per home, looking at the glass make-up, orientation, and manufacturer guidance. It is never an automatic approval, and we will recommend a different film when that is the better fit.
